Marie Anne Dushimimana, 32, is a mother, a spouse at the same time a passionate and professional journalist with 8 years of experience in reporting and editing. When she ended her Bachelor studies in journalism, she started working for various media houses including The New Times the only daily English paper in Rwanda and its sister Kinyarwanda paper Izuba Rirashe. She worked also as a freelancer for various local and international media houses.
During all these years, Anne managed to get more skills from training and short courses that enabled her to be more professional and win many awards in her profession. In 2017 and 2018, she was the winner of Journalism Reproductive Health competition organized by Rwanda Health Initiative (HDI), a nongovernmental organization working on health promotion, precisely on sex, reproductive health and rights.
In 2018 again, she was the winner of Journalism Development Award competition organized by Rwanda Governance Board, namely in business category. In the same year, she founded an online website www.thechildfocus.rw, with the editorial line of reporting on children, women and family issues. Currently, she manages The Child Focus while working as Media Editor-in-Chief at Pax Press, a nongovernmental organization working with more than 180 journalists for peace, democracy and human rights promotion. Besides, she is the vice-Chair of Women Media Owners for Change, a Network of Women owning media organs in Rwanda, with the vision of raising woman voice through media.
